FROM HERE TO HER Artist Collective was active between 2012-2017. This site is an archive of the larger projects we worked on together during that time. We continue to stay connected and in collaboration with each other, just in a less formal way. This experience led to more community, conversation and artistic opportunity than we could’ve ever imagined. That impact continues to this day. Thanks so much for everyone who supported us over the years!
FROM HERE TO HER Artist Collective is an alliance of female artists based in Milwaukee who share a strong belief in the power of art to create social change and to transform lives – both the life of the artist and the lives of people who are touched by their work. Through public art projects, educational workshops, youth mentoring, art therapy and mutual opportunity-creation, our mission is to make our community a healthier, more equitable place for women and girls.
We're best known for our annual community art projects that explore gendered social norms. These projects are meant to instigate critical thinking that leads to actual change. Our 2015 project, My Sister’s Story, was recognized by Senator Tammy Baldwin for the way it used creativity to promote gender equality.
We've also done commissioned work for organizations, including Alverno College’s “Because the World Needs Strong Women” billboard campaign featuring portraits of their alumnae painted by our artists.
