WELL-BEHAVED WOMEN:
JOURNEYS TO FEARLESSNESS
[March 2014, Milwaukee] Our 2014 Women's History Month exhibition explored common expectations of women and girls in American culture and what it takes to grow beyond them. The theme was inspired by the famous Laurel Thatcher Ulrich quote, "Well-behaved women seldom make history," as well as influential women — past and present — who've challenged feminine norms, from Josephine Baker to Malala Yousafzai.
