[March 2013, Milwaukee] Like many women, we often struggle to find a balance between where we believe our beauty and worth lie and where the mass media relentlessly tells us it does. Our 2013 Women's History Month exhibition explored outward aesthetics of feminine beauty as well as internal reflections on identity and self image.
The goal of the show was to get people thinking about the impact popular culture has on women and girls and to question the price we pay for it as individuals and as a society.
In conjunction with the exhibit, Alverno College hosted educational workshops for women in the community that applied the exhibit's theme across topics ranging from activism to art history.
